Depiction is the description or narration of something with its distinctive and detailed features in cultural, artistic and literary works. It can be said that description exists with culture, and culture cannot be found in something that is not a description. Description is made and understood through language in narratives, sometimes directly and sometimes by analogy and metaphor. These literary elements help tales to go beyond the narrative function. From a hermeneutic point of view, since a saying is not self-understanding and requires interpretation, the descriptions used in the tale must be interpreted, especially to clarify the implicit words. In fact, tales are one of the basic and first narratives of abstract thinking, both in terms of the narrator, the text, and the listener and reader. Therefore, looking at depiction from a cultural perspective, evaluating how depiction is used in folk literature, especially in tales, and what kind of a process of meaning and interpretation the text is from a hermeneutical perspective, constitutes the subject and purpose of this study. At the heart of hermeneutics is the idea that understanding a text is a constant process of interpretation, and that interpretation is influenced by historical, cultural, and individual contexts. It is seen that hermeneutics, most commonly used in the fields of linguistics and translation, can also be used as a method for understanding and interpreting traditional texts. Descriptions in tales, especially symbols, can be used in this process to delve into the deeper layers of the text from a hermeneutic perspective and to understand the text holistically from different perspectives. It is believed that examining the Zümrüdüanka Kuşu tale from a hermeneutic perspective is an important method for understanding the descriptions, symbols, cultural context, narrator/author's perspective, and inner meanings of the tale. It is seen that with the change in the narrative environment, the way the tale is interpreted and the way the depictions are imagined has also changed.
