Abstract

Nüvîdî Mahlaslı İki Dîvân Şairi ve Şiirleri

Two poets using the pseudonym Nuvidi were recorded in the poet biographies (tazkira), one of the biographical sources of Ottoman literature. The first of these poets is Yusuf Nuvidi Efendi (d. 1608), who lived most of his life in the second half of the 16th century, and the second is Mehmed Nuvidi Efendi (d. 1674-75), who was one of the 17th-century poets. The few poems of these two poets, about whom we do not know whether they had a divan, were included in poet biographies and journals whose content was published. In this study, first of all, information was given about the lives and literary personalities of the poets with the pseudonym Nuvidi. Then, the poems of both poets compiled from the poet biographies were listed. Afterward, poems with the pseudonym Nuvidi compiled from poetry journals were discussed. These poems, which were classified and recorded according to their journals, were obtained as a result of the screening of 517 studies conducted on journals. While compiling the poems from journals, the reading errors in the poems were corrected by using the manuscripts, and the corrections made were indicated in the footnotes. In the compilations made from the poet biographies, the text publications prepared on the poet biographies were used. In the last part of the study, transcribed texts of previously unpublished poems with the pseudonym Nuvidi were presented to the researchers. The evaluations on which Nuvidi the poems, compiled from the journals and published for the first time, belonged to were given under the heading of the relevant journal.
